When will you start preparing my return?

The following four actions must be completed before we can begin preparing your tax return:
  1. Completion of our Entity or Individual tax questionnaire (for any tax year).
  2. Uploading your tax documents using our secure upload link.
  3. E-signing your engagement letter.
  4. Providing a payment method for our tax prep services.

How long does it take to complete my return?

Once all four required actions above have been completed, it generally takes between 2-5 weeks to complete our preparation and review process. You will be given a draft copy of your return to review and ask questions before we e-file. Timing depends largely on expediency of communications when additional clarifications or additional documentation requests are sent to you.  The quicker you can provide us the information we need, the quicker we can complete your return(s).

Who do I talk to if I need to discuss my 2023 tax circumstances with you?

We encourage you to call or text us at (503) 610-8291 or email [email protected] to schedule a complimentary tax intake appt to go over 2023 information before we prepare your return. We offer these appts over the phone, virtually, or in-person at our office in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

What sort of communications should I expect during the tax process?

We will be in consistent communication as soon as we get started on your return. This is primarily done via email but can also be over text or phone call if preferred. For a quick outline of our tax prep process, refer to our tax preparation outline from the tax center.

How do I submit additional tax documents to you?

While email attachment is very convenient, it is highly unsecure. We value protecting your sensitive information and have created multiple opportunities to safely upload your information using our secure upload link.

When will you charge for your services?

You will be charged for tax preparation AFTER we have prepared and reviewed your return and have issued you a draft copy to review prior to e-filing.  We will not e-file your return until you have confirmed you’re ready to move forward and we have received payment for our service.

What is the Box portal and do I really need it?

Yes! The Box portal is our secure and complimentary document retention, file sharing and collaboration resource center.  We save your important source documents, historical tax returns, and other useful collaborative resources as a value add to all clients of Collective. We highly encourage you to setup your Box account for anytime access to your information.
